G1 Glasgow

Another prestigious project for Coleman’s this time in the heart of Glasgow’s George Square.

This major facade retention and demolition project to a grade I listed building – The former Post Office building central, challenged our Technical Team to deliver a variety of complex temporary works solutions to meet the clients demanding programme.

The six storey building adjoins another building which provides accommodation for Scotland’s leading Barristers, Consultants and high flying Executives. The three remaining sides of the building are all retained using external structural steelwork. This in itself presented major challenges with regard to access, traffic and pedestrian management.

Our scope included:
  • Service disconnections
  • Condition surveys
  • Piling and temporary works design
  • Traffic management diversion and road closures
  • Forming a 5 x 5m opening in the listed facade
  • Piling & pile caps
  • External steelworks
  • Internal demolition / deconstructions
  • High spec hoarding and temporary lighting
This project required total commitment from our Management Team along with the total support from our partnered sub-contractors and Consultants to deliver a project with such constraints, given two weeks to mobilise and 26 weeks on site remain a challenge to our company.
