East Norton Viaduct
This 13 span Viaduct close to the village of East Norton, Leicestershire measured 190 metres in length ( two football pitches), 12 storey’s in height and had a mass weight of 26,000 tonnes.Apart from the obvious constraints associated with using explosives to demolish structures of this nature, this project had a number of additional Environmental constraints.
For example:
- the risk of contaminating Eye Brook running below
- the management and control of protected species (bats)
