The Fort at Fort Dunlop

The £30 million pound mixed use redevelopment of one of Birmingham’s most recognised landmarks, which had lay empty for 25 years, was one of the areas most important regenerations projects of recent times.

We secured the enabling works contract to carry out structural alterations to the famous Fort Dunlop building.

Once we started on site, DEFRA imposed a series of stringent rules which affected our management of the project.

Our approach, throughout the project, was to eliminate the need for scaffolding and the use of hand-held breakers. This was achieved by using remote controlled plant to remove concrete and brickwork in dangerous areas, and our 40 metre high reach excavator.

The project was completed within budget and programme.
