Rolls Royce at Fort Dunlop

Working for Atkins Power at the Rolls Royce Power Plant, Fort Dunlop, Birmingham, our works comprised of demolition and dismantling a series of redundant buildings within the plant areas. Live services were in some instances within 50mm of the building being demolished. Air intake systems were 5 metres away from the structure, therefore the method and sequence for demolition was key to the success of the project.

A fire damaged structure situated over the engine test bays had to be removed. For this to take place the concrete had to be decontaminated, sections removed and the void filled with 15,000 tonnes of hardcore prior to final demolition.

We executed the works without accident or incident on budget and to programme, while working within a live power plant and to Rolls Royce’s strict policies and procedures.
