1999 - Winner
Birmingham City Council
Major Demolition Contractor of the Year

This project involved the controlled demolition of 5 tower blocks and associated buildings. The site was situated within a housing estate, adjacent to the busy M6 motorway and A452 truck road.

Works were programmed for completion during April 1999 – February 2000, dependant upon the properties becoming void. The works were completed during 1999.

Due to site location it was decided that remote demolition, using a caterpillar 350 ultra high reach machine fitted with a concrete pulveriser, would be the best method of demolition.

Recycling figures for the contract confirmed the 96% target, of 17,273 tonnes of material generated, only 643 tonnes was waste.
