What the judges said: This high profile project was the first phase of a demolition planned on the Lea Bank Estate, Birmingham.

It included the demolition, by controlled explosives, of two 20 storey tower blocks, which took 30 weeks of planning and preparation with a team of 20 experts whose aim was to ensure that 30,000 tonnes of concrete collapsed in a desired sequence over four seconds.
