International Safety Awards

Coleman & Company has been awarded the International Safety Award from the British Safety Council, for the fifth consecutive year. This demonstrates our commitment to improving and maintaining our Health and Safety Record. The International Safety Awards scheme is designed to recognise and reward companies that have achieved success in reducing accidents. Only companies who achieve accident incidence rates which are better than the industry average for their sector are eligible to apply.

David Ballard, Director General of the British Safety Council:

“The International Safety Awards highlight organisations that demonstrate commitment to health and safety. They are a mark of a proven and significant achievement in safety standards. By making safety an important feature of everyday work practice, Coleman & Company Ltd is reducing accidents and ill health while improving productivity and profitability”.

Timothy Walker, Director General of the HSE:

A good health and safety record is good for business’ bottom line whatever the size of the organisation. This award recognises this and rewards companies who have taken health and safety seriously throughout their organisation”.

Prime Minister Tony Blair sent a message to winners:

“At its best, sensible health and safety should be about managing risks, rather than trying to eliminate them altogether. Managing risks has a benefit not just to employees, but also to the economy as a whole, helping to tackle the 39 million days lost each year to ill health and injuries. I would like to congratulate all of you who are honoured at tonight’s award ceremony”.

Winners had to demonstrate board-level commitment to health and safety, sound safety policies, and lower than average accident rates.’
